Unique Contributions

Understanding and leveraging the strengths of each individual contributor is one of the most effective ways of unlocking a group’s full potential and mitigating group performance risks. These unique contributions usually represent the greatest value a person can bring to a specific group.

Each unique contribution by the team member comes with a list of actionable insights on how the team can maximize it. In other words, now that the team knows what each team member brings to the team, this block provides the first steps to putting this awareness into action.

Focus Expert

  • Focus Experts tend to function best in an environment where they can control their own work events. Set goals with timelines, then let Focus Expert decide how they’ll achieve these.
  • Don’t always expect Focus Experts to be sensitive to the feelings of others, as getting the work done often takes priority over emotions.
  • Focus Experts don’t necessarily like constant change, unless that’s the core of their activity. When change must be implemented, warm them up with language that gives the change a purpose and trajectory.
Storyteller

  • Ask a Storyteller whenever you need a motivator, trainer, or spokesperson to be the face and voice of a message.
  • When your team needs someone to teach, consult or do public relations for projects, Storytellers are usually happy to do all the talking.
  • Call on them when you need a memorable presentation, or want to spice up a currently-bland communication campaign with some sharp storytelling.
